Mack Speak

Posted by HenryJames on August 23rd, 2010 under Football

Mack Brown is a mesmerizing dude. It's why he recruits so well and why everybody likes him. In person he's dynamite. It's like listening to Morgan Freeman read the Declaration of Independence. You come out of a press conference and think 'Man, Greg Davis is doing a helluva job at Texas and we're lucky to have him.' Players are ready to run through walls for him, which is good preparation for our running game. But

Ty Warren doesn’t understand economics

Posted by HenryJames on March 18th, 2010 under Football

So former Aggie and current New England Patriot Ty Warren has decided to forego his $250,000 offseason workout bonus to instead stay home and attend college classes.   "I try to put the kids in the best educational system possible and I think there is something to be said for their father, who has been blessed to play in the NFL and do something he's loved to do, going back and finishing what he started," said Warren.

Texas finishes sweep of Iowa

Posted by HenryJames on March 15th, 2010 under Baseball

This staff is money. The kind of money Trips leaves in g-strings. After this weekend’s four game sweep of Iowa, the team ERA is sitting at 1.89.   Game 1   Pitching: Cole Green was on and looked really comfortable out there. He gave up a single unearned run in the first on a single, three stolen bases and two errors while striking out the side. Iowa only managed three singles and a walk the rest of the game.

Taylor Jungmann is the best pitcher in baseball

Posted by HenryJames on March 13th, 2010 under Baseball

College baseball. He's a witch. Last night he struck out 17 Iowa batters in only 7 1/3 innings of work. And got a no decision. More on that later. He's filled out his frame and is no longer all arms and legs like he was last year. His fastball has gotten, uh, faster, and last night his slider was unhittable. No, you wouldn't. He gave up a single run in the first inning

Texas 3 Pan American 2

Posted by HenryJames on March 3rd, 2010 under Baseball

So our hitters went 4-29 with 13 strikeouts. Against a fucking airline?! Are you kidding me?! Meh. We still won 3-2. This is who we are. Now there will be much gnashing of teeth all season long from our fans who want us to win, uh, differently. Not going to happen. Repeat after me, ‘pitching and defense.’ Really, really good pitching and defense.   Freshman Hoby Milner got his first collegiate start, and he looked like a
