Went over to Boomer & Sooner to get a pulse count on how they thought they might fare to day, but it seems they have possibly already given up on this craptacular season the Sooners have had.
Trips doesn’t have a ton of comfort pulling the trigger on this contest either.
I think Harbaugh and Stanford have a lot to play for and will win this. I can see the handful of non-injured Sooners who have NFL futures, thinking more about that.
On to the game.

Sailor’s take says you should play the Stanford moneyline.
This is a small, unimportant game. Therefore, OU will shut down the one-dimensional Cardinal offense and win the game.

Soonerspy, were these the same boosters that threw the party that inspired this McFarland whopper?
“I will never forget the excitement amongst all participants,” McFarland wrote. “Alcohol was all you can drink, money was not an option. Girls were acting wild by taking off their tops, and pulling down their pants. Girls were also romancing each other. Some guys loved every minute of the freakiness some girls demonstrated. I have never attended a party of this magnitude.”
He continued: “The attitude of the people at the party was that everyone should drink or not come to the party. Drugs were prevalent with no price attached.”
He compared that with a house party hosted by a sorority at Oklahoma.
“Drinks were plentiful, but not to the extent they were” at the Dallas party, he wrote. “Some people were tipsy, but in control of themselves.”
He described the atmosphere as pleasant and added: “Some people who attend the University of Oklahoma seem to represent different values than some people who attend the University of Texas.”

So you believe everything any recruit’s parent says? Do you really think that Texas boosters offered Mama McFarland cash, she came out publicly and said as much, and nobody looked into it? That takes a whole lot of stupidity.

Texas fans will spend needless energy taking away credit from Oklahoma but this was a good win for them. A well coached, physical team that came to play and got the lead on them was unable to put them away. In games past the Sooners have had a tendency to fold when someone punches them in the mouth.
Today they stayed in the game despite nothing really on the line and won. The fact that they are celebrating an otherwise meaningless game is more pride than those seniors have ever shown, IMO.

Well, the Sooners sure as shit showed more pride than UH and Missouri did today. They had a number of chances to lie down like dogs and they didn’t.
Hey, if OU loses, we get to celebrate.
If they win, we might get a little reflected benefit of the doubt for our win over them.
Until, of course, Bob Fucking Stoops and his Fucking Coaching Tree and Childhood Best Pals start their back-channel media campaign trying to let everyone knows that Texas is soft, Texas is overrated, and here are a few tips we’ve come up with on how to beat them this year (but didn’t use).

They have no control over that. The end result is they demonstrated an ability to do something they have not been able to do in recent years. This does not mean they are preseason favorites to win the South. It simply means a good win today for Oklahoma.

For maybe the first time ever, I agree with newy. Only the dumbest of dumb motherfuckers would look at this game and say “With Andrew Luck in, Stanford wins this game.” Ripley, I have an enormous amount of respect for you, but that’s the kind of ignorant shit normally reserved for me (or CloseToJumping) to say.
Yes, OU would’ve lost if Andrew Luck was playing.
OU would’ve won by 50 if we’d had the following players healthy for the entire game:
Auston English
Jarvis Jones
Brian Lepak
Ben Habern
Sam Bradford
Jermaine Gresham
Adrian Taylor (and)
Brody Eldridge
Anyone referring to Stanford’s one major loss to injury as the difference maker in this game can go ahead and die in a fire. We were starting our left tackle at center.
The one card you don’t get to pull on OU is the injury card. We’ve got the royal flush on that game.
Side Note: If my memory serves me correctly, this is the first time since 2006 that OU has come from behind at halftime to win a game against a ranked team.

Nate –
Context, hombre.
I was not saying that if the Sooners were at full strength and Andrew Luck had been able to play, he would be the deciding factor in a Stanford win. We all realize that had you had all your guys this year, you’d be busy getting ready to lose a BCS bowl.
I was discussing why in my initial post, way at the top of the page, I had picked Stanford in today’s game. I already knew that half your team was on crutches, in a splint, or on penicillin. What I didn’t know about TODAY’S GAME was that Luck was out. Had Luck played TODAY, I think Stanford would have won.
Capiche?
Nate’s quick post game thoughts are here and he and the rest of the Boomer & Sooner crew promise a more thorough break down in the next day or two.

You can say “I am stupid” to the tune of “Boomer Sooner” without missing a beat. Fits perfectly (rhythmically, substantively, and logically).
And I strongly prefer Johnny Walker Blue to Crown Cask — which preference may explain why I just typed that.

Wow, Sailor is much more diplomatic than I am. If we want to engage in pedantic masturbation excercises by refuting the Luck aspect with a laundry list of Sooner injuries, let’s take this motherfucker to its logical conclusion. Talent acquisition. One team on the field does it the right way, the other, well not so much.

I”m know they don’t have any control over Luck’s injury. Stanford without Luck probably doesn’t make any bowl game period. That is why OU fans shouldn’t consider it a good win. We’ve been making fun of them for losing BCS bowls. They’ve won the other ones like the Holiday (Oregon) and Cotton Bowls (Arkansas) in the past 10 years. Them winning a shitty bowl game over a shitty team (with no Luck) shouldn’t mean shit to a program like OUs.
